Description

Issu d'un seul vignoble très ancien et à faible rendement situé dans la région d'Olmedillo de Roa (Burgos), le Nebro n'est élaboré que lors des millésimes considérés comme exceptionnels. C'est un vin rouge voluptueux, qui allie superbement puissance et élégance, et auquel nous prédisons une longue durée de vie grâce à ses excellents tanins.

Vue
Couleur rouge cerise intense, avec des nuances grenat.
Nez
Arôme puissant de fruits mûrs avec des nuances minérales, complété par des notes de caramel provenant du vieillissement en fût.
Bouche
Attaque riche et volumineuse qui se prolonge jusqu'à la finale, longue et persistante. Notes de réglisse, de fruits et de café.

Vignoble en pente situé dans la région d'Olmedillo de Roa, à 810 mètres d'altitude, orienté nord-sud.

Continental avec une légère influence atlantique. Température moyenne d'environ 12 °C et exposition au soleil de 2 400 heures par an. Pluviométrie comprise entre 350 et 400 mm par an.

Environ 2 000 kilogrammes par hectare.
Vendanges
Vendange manuelle dans des caisses de 15 kg.
Vinification
Égrappage sans foulage. Fermentation alcoolique dans des cuves en ciment. Fermentation malolactique dans des fûts neufs en chêne français.
Elevage
Rouge crianza pendant 16 mois en fûts français neufs à grain fin (Darnajou) et 6 mois en foudres de chêne français (Taransaud).
Embouteillage
Préfiltration par membrane.

The Wine Advocate:

The top of the range is the single-vineyard 2021 Nebro, sourced from a 1.2-hectare plot of old vines planted in 1920 in the village of Olmedillo at 850 meters above sea level on alluvial soils with a high percentage of limestone and clay, covered by sand. They consider 2021 a classical vintage, and the cooler conditions and better availability of water seem to have helped to produce a fresher, more elegant and more balanced wine. They also pushed in that direction, picking the grapes to achieve a wine with 14.1% alcohol and good acidity and freshness and being careful with the élevage, which was in a 1,200-liter oak foudre. It's the most elegant Nebro I can remember; it's perfumed, aromatic and floral, with a medium-bodied palate, very fine tannins and great purity of flavors. 1,250 bottles and 100 magnums were filled in December 2023.

James Suckling:

Subtle sweet spices, coffee and minerals on top of a fresh delivery of blueberries and blackberries. Telling quality here – the nose alone needs some time to show its all. This is a full-bodied Ribera, loaded with tons of dusty tannins that coat the palate comfortably. Tight but caressing, intense yet juicy, with a long, bright finish. Lots of energy. Not a heavy Ribera del Duero at all! 100% tempranillo. Better from 2025.

A deep, powerful Ribera del Duero marked by broad-shouldered, dusty tannins that are really fine-grained and caressing. Dark spices, dark chocolate and cigar box on the nose. Juicy, profound and long, with a fine, broad structure that’s a hallmark of the area. Drink or hold.

Decanter:

Characterful nose of distinct, alluring roasted peppers, tomatoes and artichokes. Deep, slightly confected profile to the fruit, but with a crunchy bite. Tannins are ripe, smooth and deliciously meaty. The palate has darker notes of liquorice and Turkish coffee. A lot of personality and intrigue in a wine that has depth, but also an appealing, crunchy freshness.
