Description

The Wine Advocate:

The 2018 Grande Vadio comes from plots on slopes with a southern exposure (three plots) and was vinified by plot and fermented with some uncrushed grapes and indigenous yeasts in 1,000-liter vats. It matured in 500-liter barrels for one year and 60 months in bottle. This is a little riper, concentrated and more powerful than the other reds, hitting the scale at 13.8% alcohol, with a pH of 3.81 and 5.61 grams of acidity. It's reminiscent of the slightly rustic red Bairrada from yesteryear, with a medium- to full-bodied palate with ripe flavors of berries, decayed flowers, herbs and wet soil and abundant, slightly dusty tannins that would welcome some food. 1,909 bottles and 200 magnums produced. It was bottled in March 2020.
