Description

Nous avons ici le second vin du Château Lafite, l’un des grands noms de Bordeaux. Carruades provient de vignobles situés sur un plateau du même nom, acquis par le domaine en 1845. Issu d’un coupage précis composé des cépages bordelais classiques, auxquels s’ajoute pour ce millésime un faible pourcentage de Cabernet franc et de Petit verdot, il exprime clairement le charme de ce terroir privilégié ainsi que le merveilleux profil du Cabernet sauvignon et du Merlot sur ces terres argileuses.

Falstaff:

Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Nuances of heart cherries, fine blackberry confit, orange zest, subtle herbal spice, mineral undertones. Juicy, red cherries, delicate hints of currants, fine tannins, salty finish, delicate and persistent, a seductive food companion.

James Suckling:

A tight and linear red with red currant, sweet tobacco and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, fine and creamy tannins. Bright finish. Extremely fine texture for the second wine of Lafite. Typical character of Carruades. A blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 34% merlot, 9% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot.

A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 9% Cabernet France and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Carruades de Lafite exhibits notes of sweet plums and berries mingled with notions of orange zest, cedar and cigar wrapper. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a gently chalky finish, it checks in at 12.5% alcohol.

Decanter:

Upfront and instantly so welcoming and friendly and fun, bright, lively, full on acidity kicks off the expression – so lifted with the focus on the pure fruit. Salty undercurrent that gives such an incredible contrast to the ripe strawberry fruit. But this is also lacking no richness – it’s got muscles, power, concentration and such capacity to age. Fabulous. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend.
