Cultivés sur les pentes nord du volcan Etna, les cépages Nerello mascalese poussent entourés d'arbres fruitiers et d'oliviers, comme le veut la tradition dans le sud de l'Italie. Ce vin rouge intense et élégant, avec une délicate note fumée et citrique et son profil minéral, est idéal pour découvrir les grands vins rouges siciliens d'altitude.

Carlo Ferrini's 2020 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese opens to a beautiful ruby hue and an elegantly lean appearance. The wine delivers tart cherry fruit, cassis, blue flower, iron ore and orange peel. These various layers come together with balanced intensity. This vintage shows enormous elegance and tannins that melt onto the palate slowly and with lasting flavors. This bottle offers a very genuine and classic expression from the Sicilian volcano.

James Suckling:

A medium-bodied, very tight and precise red with focused, firm tannins framing sleek layers of cranberries, blackberries, stones, slate and tobacco. Hints of dried fruit. too. Mineral and stony. Old-vine character here, with lots of bark and spice at the end. Lightly austere. Try this from 2024.

Falstaff:

Bright, light ruby red colour. Intriguing nose, delicate fruit notes, reminiscent of raspberries and cherries, with dried herbs and hints of black truffle in the background. On the palate lively and precise, starts with lots of juice, firm tannins and dancing acidity, Savoury finish, good length.
