L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The 2024 Viura, often the most austere of the varietal whites, was produced with the handpicked bunches from the plants scattered in different vineyards that are often planted with a field blend of the different traditional varieties. The vines can average 40 years of age and are on clay and limestone soils. They generate a pool of all the yeasts in their vineyards and then select the most appropriate to make a pied de cuve to start the fermentation, which in this case was in French oak barrels. The wine matured with fine lees in new French barriques for five months, and still the wine does not show oak aromas or flavors and reveals cleanliness, purity and balance. It's not showy but more austere and quite solid, with a nicely built palate. It has 14% alcohol, which is not noticeable, balanced by the pH of 3.29 and 5.97 grams of acidity that make it come through as balanced and harmonious, keeping the freshness and with good concentration and clout. It finishes with a salty note. It should develop nicely in bottle. 3,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2025.

James Suckling:

Precise and stony, showing lemon zest and green apples. A touch of white blossoms. The palate is crisp and fresh with medium body. The pithy, bone-dry, mineral finish is slightly saline. A Chablis-like style. Delicious. Drink now.
