L'avis des experts

Decanter:

Produced since 1975, Riecine’s Riserva hails from the same vineyard as the Gran Selezione. Whereas the latter comes from a specific plot within it, this is a selection of the remaining parcels. It already exhibits exquisite clarity of wild strawberry, raspberry, coriander and mint blossom, and although it comes across as slender, it has sufficient concentration. It charms with its buoyancy and graceful flow; the structure comes together surreptitiously with a textured tannic tug. Very pretty.

The Wine Advocate:

In the bottle with the copper-colored wax capsule, the organic Riecine 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva shows rich or almost crunchy red fruit. The wine is lifted up considerably in terms of mouthfeel thanks to its medium weight and silky tannins. There is a slight rigidity to this wine that serves it well now, especially if served across from red meat, and that will also carry it forward for modest cellar aging. Riecine is one of the most representative estates in the Gaiole subzone.

James Suckling:

A refined, balanced and seductive red with aromas of cherries, dried flowers, wild herbs and exotic spices. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Refined texture with focus and a succulent core of forest berries bringing vitality and freshness in the flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Wine Enthusiast:

An herbaceous, saline and floral nose features aromas of soil, moss and wild strawberry. A cascade of berries tumbles over the palate, while edgy tannins and abundant acid accentuate undertones of dark chocolate and salt, and a latent heat blazes in the background.
