Henri Giraud Blanc de Craie
Description

Restrained, subtle, amazingly elegant 100% Chardonnay, with the complexity that only an aged Champagne can offer. Notes of fresh apples with marzipan notes and freshly cooked biscuits. Sublime delicacy on the palate, with as firm an architecture as roses carved in stone. The finish is impressively slow and complex.
A subtle and refined champagne with such beauty and satisfaction. Flint and apples with lemon aromas follow through to a medium body with fine bubbles, pie crust and oyster shell. Dry finish. Hints of salt. Mostly 2021 base wine with about 40% reserve wine. 30 months on the lees. 100% chardonnay. Dosage 5 g/L. Disgorged December 2024. Drink now. (James Suckling)
Crafted predominantly from the 2021 vintage and augmented by approximately 33% wine from a perpetual reserve established in 1995, Giraud’s NV Blanc de Craie is sourced from the villages of Aÿ and Louvois. The most recent release was disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of five grams per liter. Aromatically, it evokes notes of lemon tart, ripe pear and anise, mingling with spring flowers. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, racy and linear, with a pillowy mousse and a long, saline finish. The wine was vinified entirely in barrels ranging from one to six years of age.
