Bimbache Quintero Vidueño
Description

The NV Quintero Vidueño, from a solera with overripe grapes but not fortified, was produced with all the varieties from the island. It is different from the one of Quintero Vidueño Viejísimo, which was one demijohn of extremely old and sweet wine they put in very small bottles years ago. This comes in a regular bottle, a blend reflecting more the old wines from Sabinosa, blending older and younger wines, coming through as more balanced and less sweet, more drinkable, with an amber color and an expressive nutty and smoky nose with some iodine notes and some volatility. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.34, 6.9 grams of acidity (through concentration) and only 7.6 grams of sugar that are offset by the high acidity, finishing with saline and bitter notes in the finish. This is for now sold without appellation of origin until they manage to certify these old wines. 966 bottles were filled in June 2024. This is the first blend and is marked with a lot number, but in future bottlings, they should be able to indicate it. It reflects how the traditional wines from El Hierro used to be. (Luis Gutiérrez)
