Description

Indie Xisto est un vin rouge issu d'une parcelle unique provenant d'un vignoble d'environ 70 ans situé à Alijó, dans la région du Douro. Le vignoble, planté sur des sols d'ardoise bleue, est composé d'un coupage traditionnel où prédomine le Tinta Roriz, associé à d'autres cépages autochtones. Le millésime 2021 a été élaboré à partir de grappes entières et fermenté dans des cuves en béton, puis élevé en foudres et en fûts de chêne de 500 litres. Il en résulte un vin au profil austère et précis, doté de tanins fins et d’un caractère minéral marqué. D’ une production très limitée, c’est un vin destiné à évoluer favorablement en bouteille.

The single-vineyard 2021 Indie Xisto was produced with grapes from a 70-year-old plot on blue slate in the zone of Alijo in Douro planted with a field blend that has a lot of Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), but many other varieties too. In 2021, he changed the vinification, which was previously in lagar. This fermented in concrete with full clusters and matured in oak foudres and some 500-liter oak barrels. This is always quite closed, and for Seabra, the blue slate gives very closed and austere wines, while yellow slate gives more open and rounder wines. The palate is also very austere and tannic, but the tannins are fine and the wine is clean and balanced. It takes time in the glass to open up to floral and elegant notes and becomes a lot more nuanced in the direction of a red from the Northern Rhône. It's going to need time in bottle. In 2021, most of the reds were around 12.5% alcohol. 4,300 bottles produced.

This is really floral, with cherries, slate, dried herbs and a balsamic note. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with powdery tannins, plenty of crunchy fruit and a long and persistent finish. Better from 2026.
