Ester Canale Rosso Barolo 2020
Description

Bright ruby garnet. Very lush and appealing nose of blood orange and pomegranate on the one hand, lots of raspberry and plum on the other, exciting interplay. Firm, dense tannins form the backbone, dark berry fruit, builds for a long time, very long finish.
In 2020, the rain occurred mainly at night, which was positive for the ripening of the vines, but nevertheless the wines will be thinner than the 2019s,’ states Giovanni Rosso winemaker Andrea Delpiano. The care for Vigna Rionda – one of the most important crus of Serralunga and the Barolo denomination – is meticulous. The Ester Canale 2020 is, as always, very intense on the nose, with sweet violet, cinnamon and wild strawberry, this year with notes of black fruits as well. The rhubarb finish is accompanied by a marvellous tight-knit structure between refreshing acidity and thick, velvety and ripe tannins. Will be released in summer 2024.
This special wine is made in honor of the vintner's mother, who lives in a pretty white house overlooking this vineyard site in Serralunga d'Alba. Closed with a wax capsule, the Giovanni Rosso 2020 Barolo VignaRionda Ester Canale Rosso is a generous expression of Nebbiolo with dark fruit, black licorice and crushed stone. The tannins are sweet in a vintage that saw good rain distribution throughout the year. This ruby-colored Barolo is a little bit softer overall, and it reveals a strongly fruit-driven finish.
Attractive aromas of red plums and forest berries with aged tangerine peel, dried rose hips and hints of bergamot. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and meaty, with firm tannins, yet it’s very fine and polished. Solid and layered. Try after 2027.
