Description

L'Évangile est un merveilleux coupage élaboré à Pomerol. La maison marie avec maestria le merlot et le cabernet franc. Si, au cours des années précédentes, le domaine s'était habitué à la prépondérance du merlot par rapport au cabernet franc, la répartition de 2023 s'est avérée bien plus équilibrée. Car, comme on le dit au sein même du domaine bordelais, « rien n'est acquis, rien n'est immuable ».

Vignoble et élaboration

Description
Vignoble bénéficiant d'une situation privilégiée sur le plateau de Pomerol, entre Pétrus, La Conseillante et Cheval Blanc.
Climat
Les températures élevées enregistrées tout au long de l'année climatique 2023 ont accéléré le processus de maturation, révélant de délicieuses notes de fruits rouges dans l'assemblage. Le point d'inflexion est atteint et un équilibre parfait finit par s'instaurer.
Vendanges
Vendange manuelle du 4 au 28 septembre 2023.
Vinification
La fermentation en cuves s'effectue selon la méthode traditionnelle, avec des remontages et une macération contrôlée, accompagnés de dégustations fréquentes.
Elevage
Élevage de 15 mois en fûts de chêne français.

Lovely, the is calm and collected, ripe but also really cool. Lovely texture, ample tannins but so well controlled that they fill the mouth but don't overpower. Lovely styling here, generous but elegance, powerful and concentrated but delicately delivered. This will have a great life and is just so enjoyable. One of the best Pomerols. Great texture.

James Suckling:

Mesmerizing aromas of blackberries, bark and hints of dark mushrooms, violets and chocolate. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are polished and very long, bright acidity and a long and vivid finish. Rather endless. 78% merlot, 21% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes. Best after 2029, but already a joy to taste.

Wafting from the glass with deep aromas of dark berries, spices, licorice and petals, framed by a sweet patina of new oak, the 2023 L'Evangile is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a textural attack that segues into a supple, integrated core that's framed by sweet, powdery tannins. It's a blend of 78% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, checking in at 13.5% alcohol, that was harvested between September 4 and 28.
