The Wine Advocate:

The pure Garnacha 2018 En Sus Trece was produced with grapes from two plots of organically farmed vines planted in 1967 and 1974 in the village of Villarroya de la Sierra on stony red soils at 800+ meters in altitude. This is a significant change, as it used to be produced with grapes purchased from the villages of Acered and Alarba. The wines tend to have more acidity, which goes with the freshness in the wines. The destemmed grapes were crushed into an open concrete tank, where they fermented with indigenous yeasts. It was kept on fine lees for 15 months. It has intense balsamic aromas, a minty touch, with notes of Mediterranean herbs, aniseed and licorice, and despite being unoaked, it has a faint touch of smoked bacon. It has a vibrant palate with pungent flavors and fine tannins, long, tasty and fine. It's medium to full-bodied and intense, with glossy fruit, not a shy Garnacha for sure. 2,732 bottles were filled in March 2020.
