La disposition irrégulière de son vignoble d'origine, composé de cépages Tempranillo à faible rendement plantés en 1931, a donné son nom à Malpuesto, un vin rouge de la Rioja Alavesa élaboré par Orben, le domaine e boutique du groupe Artevino. Un grand vin à la personnalité unique, doté d'une finale persistante et corsée.

Sélection manuelle des grappes sur table. Égrappage sans foulage. Fermentation alcoolique en cuve en inox. Fermentation malolactique en fûts neufs avec pigeage manuel tout au long du processus.

Élevage en fûts de chêne français à grain fin et en cuves en terre cuite.

A modern Rioja that’s restrained yet plush, showing minerals and hibiscus with glossy berries and cherries. A hint of vanilla. Long, concentrated and tense. Structured, bright and tight with almost full body and taut, chewy tannins that are a little austere at this stage. Give it two more years. Try from 2028. (Zekun Shuai)

The Wine Advocate:

The single-vineyard red 2022 Malpuesto comes from a north-facing field blend of Tempranillo with some Graciano, Viura and Malvasía planted in 1945 on stony, limestone-rich soils. They have reduced the time in oak, and this year, they introduced clay tinajas too. This is a transition, so it's still smoky and spicy, with black fruit, ripeness and 14.1% alcohol. It's full-bodied, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins giving it a rustic twist. It should get polished with some more time in bottle. 5,920 bottles and 25 double magnums were filled in July 2024.
