Description

The Wine Advocate:

Curiously enough, the 2013 Amancio is always produced selecting individual vines that yield only one or two bunches. The grapes come from four plots on 16 hectares in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The wine is fermented in small oak vats and matured in new French oak barrels for some 24 months. As much as I liked the overall freshness of the 2013s from the Eguren family (not only here, also San Vicente and Viñedos de Páganos), in the case of Amancio, I ended up favoring the 2012. which was a much drier and riper vintage. But these old vines used for Amancio somehow seem to diminish the effect of the vintages and produce consistent wines. With such low yields, the vines used for this cuvée seem to ripen earlier and that's possibly the reason why this wine is different. There are some notes from the élevage that might need some more time in bottle to get better integrated, and there are some tannic edges to be polished. So I'd wait a bit on this one. 4,800 bottles.
