L'avis des experts

Tim Atkin:

Carlos Mazo is an exciting new talent in Aldeanueva de Ebro. This subtle, stony Garnacha dominated blend comes from two 31-year-old parcels planted on limestone soils and is wonderfully vibrant and alive. Fresh and medium-bodied, with garrigue and black cherry fruit, granular tannins and understated oak. 2023-28

The Wine Advocate:

The red 2020 Costumbres Tinto has a captivating and floral nose denoting elegance, freshness and balance in a warm region and a warm year. Carlos Mazo reckons this is around 80% Garnacha and 10% each Tinta Velasco (an obscure local grape) and Tempranillo that, despite the 14.7% alcohol, feels very balanced and even fresh. The tannins are very fine and the finish dry and chalky. The vines are now certified organic. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2021.
