L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The red 2022 Pepe Yllera was produced with 87% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot from different vineyards in different villages of Ribera del Duero, fermented in stainless steel and matured 15% in clay amphorae and the rest (85%) in French and American oak barrels for nine to 10 months. It's the most approachable of the reds, ripe and creamy, with some notes from the barrel and with fine tannins. It comes from a very warm and dry year and has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.55. A total of 221,945 bottles and 3,000 magnums were filled in June 2024. (Luis Gutiérrez)

James Suckling:

A little riper and denser than the 2021 vintage, with a bit more weight reflecting the warmer conditions. Subtle black olives, herbs and spices to the cherry and plum profile. Simple, fruit-conscious, with medium to full body and a medium-length finish. A bit chewy in terms of tannins but should be finer in one more year. Very good value. Drink in 2025. (Zekun Shuai).
