A solid red with blueberry, blackberry and hints of lavender and violet. Full-bodied with layers of fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Still needs time to come together, but already a beauty. Better after 2022.
"Old vines" means that the vineyards were planted in the 1940s here and the yields in the finished wine are correspondingly low. Aged in 50% new French oak, it's very much a modern style, but one that has impressive freshness beneath the notes of mocha and coffee bean. The fruit is crunchy, the finish marked by limestone minerality. 2022-30
Open black fruit, wood smoke and cream nose. Palate is very structured, with lots of extract; quite a serious, youthful wine, with good concentration and length.
