The Wine Advocate:

2021 was very challenging year, and the blend for the 2021 Aliaxe was different, approximately 50% Caíño and 50% Espadeiro from Fabaiños, as that year they didn't produce the Fabaiños bottling and in cooler and wetter years they don't get any Loureiro. In fact, this is the idea of the blend they have for this red for the future, maybe 60% Espadeiro and the rest Caíño, as they are planting more Espadeiro for the future. Like the previous vintages, the destemmed grapes fermented in oak vats followed by 12 months in barrel and six more months in stainless steel. It's lighter and has a less intensive nose, with more balsamic and vegetal notes, with lower alcohol, 11%, a lighter palate and subtler flavors. 1,300 bottles were filled in March 2023.

Tim Atkin:

An equal assemblage of Caíño Tinto and Espadeiro, sourced from a range of parcels in the Salnés Valley, including one that is over 200 years' old, this is a light, comparatively personable and approachable Galician red with rose petal and wild strawberry aromas, flavours of white pepper, earth, red cherry and beetroot and a low-alcohol finish. 2023-28
