The Wine Advocate:

The 2013 Finca Canal Uco felt very expressive, different from the other two reds from Altamira (Aluvional and Piedra Infinita), more aromatic, with notes of blood oranges, flowers, not only violets, but also white flowers (lilies), and plenty of aromatic herbs, the aromas that you smell walking in the vineyard, lots of fennel, really layered and complex. This comes from a north-facing vineyard planted 11 years ago on chalk-rich soils where apple trees were grown before. Certainly a step up over the previous vintage, this is a complex, and a little wild, Malbec. The palate has really sophisticated, silky tannins with a soft texture and great acidity. There is less alcohol and ripeness, more subtleness. In this vintage this challenges Piedra Infinita. 2,900 bottles produced.
