Description

The Wine Advocate:

I could swear the 2015 Red Wine 1 Pinot Noir had a saline sensation even in the nose. This is a unique Pinot from vines planted in 2007 in the south of the Atacama desert in the Valle de Huasco, where water is available to irrigate because of the river. They used some 25% full clusters to ferment this in small open bins with foot threading and natural yeast. All the Tara wines are produced at a very small and artisanal scale, and they do not use yeasts or oenological products; the élevage is exclusively in neutral containers, whatever that might be, in this case fifth use Burgundy barrels for two months. This is a ripe, exuberant and floral red with low alcohol and high acidity, and it's so tasty and mineral it's almost salty. This is a unique Pinot Noir. 1,800 bottles produced. This was first produced in 2011. I had the chance to taste back vintages, and the wines seem to be getting better with each year, as the plants get older.
