Description

Le Château Lynch-Moussas est un vin rouge produit par cabernet sauvignon et merlot. Il a atteint le sommet du classement de Bordeaux de 1855, se classant comme Grand Cru. Le domaine a appartenu pendant de nombreuses années à Jean Castéja, membre de la famille propriétaire du légendaire Lafite Rothschild. Ce millésime a été exceptionnel , donnant naissance à un vin puissant, harmonieux, vibrant et très corsé.

Puissant, harmonieux, avec des tanins fermes mais élégants et une finale vraiment juteuse.

Vignoble et élaboration

Année de plantation
trente-cinq ans.
Climat
Maritime. La floraison à la mi-mai a été rapide et homogène. Le mois de juin a été marqué par des températures très élevées, de fortes pluies et d'importants orages, suivis d'un mois de juillet très sec, ce qui a entraîné un changement rapide de couleur des raisins au milieu du mois. L'été a été extrêmement sec et chaud, le plus chaud depuis 1947. Les vendanges ont débuté début septembre et se sont achevées avant la fin du mois. Les raisins étaient très concentrés, avec des baies extrêmement petites qui ont apporté des couleurs profondes et sombres, ainsi qu'une grande maturité et richesse. Ce millésime a été considéré comme exceptionnel.

La récolte a débuté au début du mois de septembre et s'est achevée avant la fin du mois.

Decanter:

Cool blue fruits on the nose, a little shy at this point. Intensely fruited, really rich and ripe but clean and clear, giving a depth of ripe blackcurrants but juicy, fresh and alive. Almost sharp, it’s intense with bite to the fruit and such lean tannins that give a firm but light grip to the mouth. I like the attack, it’s bold and confident but refined at the same time. Good fruit profile, balancing acidity and lovely lean, mineral tannins. Well structured, nothing too much or overdone with freshness throughout. Well worked with precision. Spicy, black pepper, cedar, tobacco, liquorice, a touch of coffee, but all giving nuance underneath the fruit, tannins and acidity. It’s concentrated no doubt, this has power, but is presented carefully with such a lifted, juicy finish. This will be a beauty.

James Suckling:

Very clear and transparent with blackcurrant, blueberry, lead pencil, mint and violet aromas that follow through to a medium body with ultrafine tannins that go on and on. Such polish and beauty. Crunchy at the end. 74% cabernet sauvignon and 26% merlot. Try this after 2028.

Jeb Dunnuck:

Smoky dark fruits and leafy tobacco are just some of the notes in the 2022 Château Lynch-Moussas, a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced, beautifully layered Pauillac. The tannins here are ripe and polished, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as outstanding length. It's a seriously good wine, if not the finest I've tasted from this château. It's clearly in the same ballpark as the 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Falstaff:

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Hints of nougat and fig, black berryish fruit, ripe plums, orange zest underlying. Good complexity and freshness, elegant, fine fruitiness, integrated tannins, shows length and certain ageing potential.
