The Wine Advocate:

There is a new red from Ribeiro, not from Rías Baixas where they work, but in the future, they will make a red from Rías Baixas. The 2015 Poza Vella is a joint venture with Adrián Guerra from the Bagos wine bar in Pontevedra and Cume do Avia from Ribeiro (whose wines I tasted for the first time and included in this report). It's a blend of local varieties—Brancellao, Caíño Longo, Sousón, Ferrón, Carabuñeira and Merenzao—from young vines. The full clusters were foot trodden in 1,500-liter chestnut wood vats trying to replicate the wines from yesteryear. It's quite dark, a little earthy and has some rusticity. It has very tasty flavors, a stony, mineral sensation of very poor soils and a certain elegance. 2015 was a very dry year that produced powerful wines. Only 594 bottles were filled in October 2016.
