Très floral, frais et impeccablement élaboré. Telles sont les caractéristiques du Millésime 2020, encore en domaine, du Château d'Aiguilhe, l'un des projets personnels de Stephan von Neipperg. Ce nouveau millésime est à nouveau l'expression fidèle du terroir unique de Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux et, selon le critique Jeb Dunnuck, « l'un des joyaux précieux » que 2020 laissera à Bordeaux.

Vendanges
Vendanges manuelles effectuées du 17 au 28 septembre 2020 dans de petites caisses.
Vinification
Sélection des grappes avant et après leur égrappage. Les raisins sont acheminés par gravité dans des cuves en bois afin de compléter le processus de fermentation à température contrôlée pendant 40 jours. Extraction par perforation pneumatique du chapeau. Fermentation malolactique en fût.
Elevage
De 15 à 18 mois en fûts de chêne français avec ses lies. 30 % du vin est élevé en fûts neufs.

L'avis des experts

Decanter:

Violet reflections, great clarity of colour and immediate whoosh of salinity through the redcurrant fruits. Powerful and focused with bright berry flavours, it practically defines the term crunchy fruit, then softens to show creamier black cherry purée as it relaxes in the glass. Really a very tasty d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg. Extremely moreish. Harvest September 17– 28, 30% new oak. Drinking Window 2023-2034.

James Suckling:

Black cherry, black berry and orange peel with some cedar aromas, follow through to a medium body with fine and chalky tannins. Dried herb and bark undertones. Some salt, too. Drink or hold.

Jeb Dunnuck:

I loved the nose of the 2020 Château D'Aiguilhe, which is loaded with pure, clean cassis and raspberry-like fruits well as white flowers, crushed stone, and even a touch of blue fruits with time in the glass. It’s very floral, fresh, and medium-bodied and is impeccably made. It’s well worth seeking out and should be one of the value gems in the vintage.

Aromas of cassis, dark berries and cherries mingle with subtle hints of incense and spices in an inviting bouquet to introduce the 2020 d'Aiguilhe, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine with powdery tannins and the lively acids that are typical of this later-ripening, limestone-rich sector. Always a notable value, this age-worthy cuvée has turned out very well this year.
