Manda Huevos Caña Andrea 2021
Description

The single-vineyard red 2021 Manda Huevos Tinto Caña Andrea was produced with a Garnacha field blend with some 10% to 15% other varieties—Moristel, Bobal and Garnacha Blanca. It comes 60% from their oldest plot, a 0.8-hectare plot planted in 1908 on a gentle slope at 750 meters in altitude in the village of Villarroya de la Sierra, plus 40% from a younger and slightly flatter 0.7-hectare adjacent plot planted in 1970. They used 20% full clusters for the fermentation in an open-top fermenter, and the élevage was in 875-liter Flextank eggs (except for one or two neutral 500-liter oak barrels). It's expressive and has citrus freshness and is serious, fresh and balanced. The oak is unnoticeable oak, and it's ripe without excess, juicy and round. It has a full-bodied palate, 14.3% alcohol, nice balance, a long, lingering aftertaste and round, polished tannins. 3,090 bottles were filled in April 2023.
Deep and concentrated yet balanced and graceful. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with delineated fruit, fresh acidity and silky tannins. Love the tension and juicy profile. A blend of 90% garnacha with the balance moristel, bobal and garnacha blanca. From an old head-pruned vineyard. Drink now. Jacobo Garcia-Andrade Llamas - Senior Editor.
