The Wine Advocate:

The white 2023 La Viña de Ayer Albillo Real is a village wine from vineyards in different parts of Cebreros that were picked between the 7th and 10th of August to keep the alcohol at 13%, with a pH of 3.5 and 5.2 grams of acidity. It fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and aged in oak vats for eight months with a small part under a veil of flor yeasts. It has a different, characterful nose—I wonder if it's because of the flor in one of the foudres—with some yeasty notes, hints of baked bread/brioche and bright yellow fruit that reminds me of some Savagnin wines. It has a round, tasty and structured palate with mellow acidity and an almost salty twist in the finish. It's a variety that ages nicely in bottle. This is very attractive and different, perhaps a new way for Albillo? 5,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2024. This is now the only white in their portfolio. (Luis Gutiérrez)
