L'avis des experts

James Suckling:

Very pretty, bright and crisp, but there's also some real nice peachy character in there. Drink through 2023.

The Wine Advocate:

Cultivated just a few meters apart from the Geierslay but in a warmer terroir with less quartzite in the soils, the 2016 Wintricher Ohligsberg Riesling "GW" is from roughly 45-year-old vines on blue, slightly red colored slate. Fermented and aged until June 2017 in stainless steel, this is a deep, intense, fully ripe and very elegant Riesling with very fine, really spicy crushed slate aromas. Lush and round on the palate, this is a full-bodied, highly elegant, piquant and salty Riesling with an intense, powerful, well-structured and persistent finish. Impressive! The acidity is fine but enormously vital and lifts this complex, tightly structured wine in digestible dimension. The finish is very, very long. I'd cellar it at least for another five to six years. Bottled with 12% alcohol and eight grams of residual sugar per liter. - Stephan Reinhardt.
