Nicosia Monte San Nicolò Etna Rosso 2019
Description

A seriously structured young Etna red that's been built to last. However, with a little aeration, it exudes very attractive summer-flower, cranberry and sour-cherry aromas. Deep and complete, with very fine tannins that build at the long, intensely mineral finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.
This contrada is not part of the official appellation map, but it is a property owned by Tenute Nicosia in Trecastagni. The 2019 Etna Rosso Contrada Monte San Nicolò reveals a zesty bouquet with wild fruit, ashy spice and crushed white pepper. The wine is lean in consistency with a shiny ruby appearance. The bouquet is subdued, but the wine delivers most of its power in terms of mouthfeel anyway. Some 13,000 bottles were released. - Monica Larner.
