L'avis des experts
This has a rich and complex bouquet of lemon curd, chamomile, vanilla and a touch of dried mangoes. The palate, on the other hand, is pleasantly austere, with perfectly delineated Claudia plum and vanilla flavors and bright acidity that concludes with a long, penetrating and savory finish. Delicious now, but better from 2026.
Same as with the red, there's now also a white 2021 1er Los Montes Bellos de Buradòn Viura from vines planted in 1975 on very rocky limestone soils in the paraje of Macarralde in the village of Labastida. The whole clusters were pressed, the juice let to settle for 48 hours and then fermented in new 228-liter oak barrels, where it matured with the full lees for 12 months and a further 10 months in used 400-liter barrels completing the long élevage. It has very good ripeness and reached 14% alcohol but kept a low pH (3.1), which should make it long lived. The nose is showy, expressive and intense, with notes of pollen, spices and beeswax, and it has an effervescent palate that is very fine-boned, with chalky minerality and a long, tasty finish. Only 490 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2023. (Luis Guitérrez)
