L'avis des experts

Tim Atkin:

Bakeder - Basque for "beautiful as peace", apparently - is a tribute to the village and vineyards of Laguardia. Perfumed, floral and youthful, with good focus, layers of plum, raspberry and black cherry fruit and plenty of zip and acidity. 2024-32

The Wine Advocate:

A new wine from the Viña Real winery, the 2020 Bakeder is a village red produced with Tempranillo grapes from Laguardia. It has contained oak and good ripeness at 13.95% alcohol, a more modern style of red that shows very young, quite fruit-driven and with a soft mouthfeel and velvety tannins. It has purity of fruit, elegance and finesse with respectful oak after 10 months in French barriques. There are some 30,000 bottles of this. It was first produced in 2019.

James Suckling:

This has aromas of wild thyme, licorice, peppercorns, blackcurrants and cloves. Spicy, supple and delicious with silky tannins and a juicy, bright palate. Slightly chewy. So drinkable now, but better in two or three years. 100% tempranillo. Drink or hold.
