Schiopetto Blumeri 2017

This is a fantastic red. Best ever from here. Iodine, oyster-shell, black-olive and blackberry character. Full-bodied, layered and chewy, yet polished and intense. Needs two or three years to soften. Available in December 2019. Try from 2021.

A release of about 3,300 bottles, the Schiopetto 2017 Podere dei Blumeri is an equal-parts blend of Merlot and Refosco that shows terrific balance and a bright, fruit-forward presentation. The wine displays candied fruit aromas with cherry, blackcurrant, plum, spice and bitter chocolate. In terms of appearance, it displays a bright ruby color with bluish hues. There is plenty of fresh, sweet berry fruit on the close that gives this wine great appeal straight out of the gate. This is a great burger wine.
