L'avis des experts
Pedregar is the outlier in AT Roca's portfolio, coming from a more distant site of Garnacha located on clay and alluvial soils near Sant Sadurní. Even though it follows the AT Roca style with its pointed, saline and invigorating dryness, there's a softer side here, too, with fragrant strawberry and grapefruit and a lick of sourdough richness from the lees ageing. It's a subtle, enticing and imaginative sparkling wine rather unique in the region. Brut Nature. 2025-2026
The sparkling rosé 2017 Pedregar was produced with Garnacha from a single 1.6-hectare plot planted in 1982 on limestone marls on a soft north-facing slope that delivers a slow ripening of the grapes. The full clusters were pressed and the juice fermented in a 3,000-liter oak foudre and stainless steel tanks, where it matured for eight months, and then refermented in bottle with concentrated must, without cane or beetroot sugar. It was in bottle with lees for at least 60 months. It has a copper color and a superb nose of decayed roses and yeasty notes. The palate is seamless and solid, balanced, fresh and tasty. 9,067 bottles produced. I tasted a bottle disgorged in December 2024.
