The first vineyard planted by young Javier San Pedro Ortega was Tempranillo Blanco, 0.9 hectares that produced the 2016 Viuda Negra Finca Villahuercos, which shows a nose of sweet fruit, pear and apples in syrup. The palate is medium-bodied, with marked acidity and some austerity. It fermented in new 500-liter French oak barrels with 10% acacia wood barrels, where the wine matured for six months with the fine lees to give it some volume. This should develop more complexity in bottle. Some 5,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in May 2017.
