Kauten 2022

I had a crush for the pale, floral and delicate young-vine Garnacha 2022 Kauten, which keeps the poise after the phenomenal 2021. From a warm and dry year, the wine shows the effect of the 14.5% alcohol but keeps incredible freshness and acidity with a pH of 3.11 and 7.4 grams of acidity, and it comes through as vibrant and lively, keeping the elegant and ethereal character. Part of the clusters were pressed directly, and the juice was put in the fermentation vessel; and the other part was foot trodden with full clusters. The wine had a short élevage of three months in used French oak barrels. It's delicious, graceful, medium-bodied, elegant and terribly pleasant and moreish. 2,329 bottles were filled in January 2024
