L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The 2018 Ventoux Il Etait Une Fois is more floral, perfumed and red-fruited than either the 2017 or 2019 versions. Tasted as a blended sample prior to bottling last year, it delivers raspberry and slightly herbal flavors on a medium to full-bodied palate. The tannins are ripe and velvety, but the acids remain lively, adding a crisp edge to the finish. - Joe Czerwinski.

Wine Enthusiast:

Old vines of Grenache dating to 1936 take the spotlight in this rich, velvety red sourced from clay and limestone soils. It's an unctuous, concentrated wine packed with flavors of dried strawberry and red-cherry compote along with delicate hints of leather and scorched garrigue. The 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre lend angularity and freshness to the finish.

James Suckling:

Aromas of blueberries, blackberries, savory herbs, baking spices and violets. It’s medium-bodied with silky tannins. Sleek and racy with a juicy core of blue fruit. Flavorful and smoky finish. Delicious. Drink or hold.
