The Wine Advocate:

"Cropped from a fresh vintage with good ripeness and balance, the 2010 Finca la Emperatriz Terruño could well be my favorite wine from what I tasted from La Emperatriz for this article. This is relatively young Tempranillo, planted in 1996, was fermented in open-top vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in a mixture of new and used French (80%) and American oak barrels for 14 months. There is a sense of harmony, with perfect integration of the oak aromas, spices, red and black fruit and also notes hinting on citric aromas that lend an overall feeling of subtlety and elegance. The texture and quality of the tannins feel different from other wines (is it the French oak), as they are perhaps more approachable, with less rusticity and more elegance. It finishes with very good freshness and persistence . Drink 2015-2025".
