Mestres Mas Via Gran Reserva Vintage 2002

Many of the wines that were presented as nonvintage last time carry the year now, as is the case with the 2002 Mas Via “Millesimé” Gran Reserva Premium, a blend of 75% Xarello, 15% Macabeo and 10% Parellada with seven grams of sugar and disgorged after 120 months in the lees (10 years!). Deeply Mediterranean with abundant notes of fennel and aniseed, some balsamic hints and plenty of sourdough and yeast aromas. It has some honeyed flavors denoting its age, but it's all very subtle, elegant and harmonious. The palate is seamless, with great acidity and a very long aftertaste with great freshness and persistence. Truly superb. 3,486 bottles produced.
