Ignios Orígenes Vijariego Negro 2015

"One of the best examples of the variety, the benchmark for this local red grape is already on the 2015 vintage, of which I tasted the impressive 2015 Ignios Orígenes Vijariego Negro. I went to see the vineyard, which he started working in 2013, and the plants are still under recovery, regrafting some odd plants that were a different variety and replacing dead ones. There are three different soils in the 1,26-hectare plot, and the idea is to work the different parts differently. The destemmed grapes fermented in stainless steel. This seems to be a lighter year, with less structure, a more elegant wine that is narrower and longer, more vertical and with an expressive nose mixing rose petals, wet rocks, tangerine peel and a peppery twist. The palate is light to medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a tasty, almost salty finish. Unfortunately, the difficulties of the year resulted in very low yields, and only 580 bottles were produced in 2015. It was bottled in October 2016."
