Guru 2018
Fiche technique
L'avis des experts
The 2018 Guru is a field blend from old vines, mostly Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega do Larinho and Gouveio, aged for seven months in 90% used French oak. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Bottled just about a week before tasting, this showed its oak too much, but it's young and that will improve. On the other hand, it is beautifully balanced, fresh and gripping on the finish, showing some tension and some tannic pop. It also seems more concentrated than the first impression would suggest. This is very unevolved, obviously, but it looks like a winner in the vintage. Let's lean up for the moment. It should age well and develop. The producers say they recently opened a 2004 (the first vintage) that was just fine.
