Châteauneuf-du-Pape Pie VI 2017
Description

Drawn from three lieux-dits, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Pie VI is a blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah. Rich and concentrated, it marries dark, boysenberry fruit with hints of chocolate, leather and garrigue. It's full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, grainy finish.
As with the 2018, the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pie VI shows a more Syrah-driven bouquet of dark fruits, ground pepper, spiced meat, and earth. Rich, meaty, and concentrated, with ample tannins, it needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years. The blend is 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah that was all destemmed and aged 18 months in concrete.
This is a wild and brambly style with aromas of abundantly ripe, red and dark berries, as well as slate, leading to a palate that has rich, strapping tannins. From biodynamically grown grapes. Try from 2024.
