L'avis des experts
The Estévez family has produced another bottling of one of the most famous places in the village of Valtuille, the 2021 Valtuille El Rapolao. It's a single-vineyard red from one of the coolest places in the village, a site with a high content of iron and organic matter in the soils planted over a century ago. It fermented in two 1,000-liter bins with 100% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in two well-seasoned and neutral 500-liter French oak barrels. It has contained ripeness and alcohol (13.1%). All the single-vineyard bottlings except El Rapolao come from their own family vineyards; but they don't have properties here, and they wanted to produce a wine from this cru and sourced some grapes from a local grower. 1,100 bottles were filled in February 2023. - Luis Gutiérrez.
