The Wine Advocate:

I was able to compare the 2012 Valdegatiles with the 2013 vintage of this Tempranillo, which is from head-pruned, dry-farmed old vines from a myriad of many small plots in a more structured zone of the Atauta Valley. The 2012 vintage was warm and dry, very different than the cooler and wetter 2013, and the wines are structured and concentrated. The destemmed grapes fermented in small stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in new and used French oak barrels for 18 months. This is possibly the ripest of the range, with aromas of dark fruit and plenty of structure, even after all this time in bottle. 1,405 bottles were filled in July 2014.
