Undurraga Vigno 2019

There is great elegance and character in the 2019 Vigno—earthy and rustic but also floral and nuanced. The Cariñena is complemented by some 10% Cinsault, and the wine comes through as ripe but fresh and vibrant, powerful an harmonious. There is a dry, stony and granite-driven feeling on the palate that I like very much. It has to be one of the finest Vignos from Undurraga. 6,600 bottles were filled in November 2020 after spending 16 months in 5,000-liter oak foudre.

A full-bodied red with violets, pine needles, blackberries and sandalwood on the nose Perfumed and plush with firm, fine-grained and well-integrated tannins. Good depth of fruit with balanced spice notes. Some lavender at the end. Carignan and cinsault. Drink or hold.
