L'avis des experts

Falstaff:

A fragrant, piquant Kabinett with aromas of shattered rock, dried lemon peel, pineapple. The palate has a taut backbone; the acidity-sweetness interplay emphasizes the nerve and is also carried by minerality and a little spritz. Superb persistence!

The Wine Advocate:

The 2020 Riesling Kabinett Rotlack offers a very rich nose with intense and warm Riesling aromas that are reminiscent of dehydrated berries or even raisins. This is far too ripe and rich for Kabinett style, even though there are only minimum yet no maximum standards for this predicate that should deliver filigreed and just-ripe Rieslings in a light but tensioned style. This 2020 comes in with 11.5% alcohol and vivacious, really fresh and piquant acidity and also fine phenolic grip, but due to its richness and sweetness, this tastes at least like a Spätlese. In any case, this is a good and age-worthy Riesling that should be cellared for at least eight years and can go for decades. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2021. - Stephan Reindhart.

James Suckling:

Ravishing, peachy nose that’s so subtle and delicate. Breathtaking balance of fascinating fruit and profound minerality! The touches of gooseberry and lime on the palate really electrify the balance. Extremely long finish that’s extremely herbal and mineral. Drink or hold.
