Description

The Wine Advocate:

"Like the 2009, the 2010 San Vicente is produced from selected Tempranillo Peludo grapes from a south-facing 18-hectare vineyard planted on argilo-calcareous soil in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta in 1985. The destemmed grapes are fermented in inox vats with pumping-over, malolactic and 19-month aging in new oak barrels, 90% of which are French and the remaining 10% American. During its upbringing the wine is racked every four months. This 2010 is spectacular, starting with its robe, of a bright, shiny ruby color with a nose full of notes of blood orange and more red than black fruit complicated with aromas of licorice and cumin. The medium-bodied palate shows round, buttery tannins which give the wine a satin texture, with very good acidity balanced by superb concentration of fruit. One word defines this wine: balance. Bravo! 60,000 bottles were filled in July 2012. Drink 2015-2028".
