Description
Ce vin est le premier de Rioja à avoir été basé sur une seule propriété viticole, selon le modèle du Médoc bordelais. Ce millésime 2013 s'est montré assez compliqué, à cause de fortes précipitations, ce qui a exigé un grand effort lors de la sélection des raisins pour ne pas perdre une once de qualité. Les belles récompenses de la critique internationale prouvent le superbe travail du domaine, et on attend de ce vin une très belle évolution en bouteille lors des prochaines années.

The flagship red 2013 Reserva, the wine most people call simply Remelluri, was cropped from a cool, wet, challenging year, and it has a little less alcohol and higher acidity than the previous harvest. It had an élevage of 20 months in oak barriques. It has an herbal twist reflecting the conditions of the year, and it is developed and polished. It has the grippy, Nebbiolo-like tannins that are a signature of the Remelluri wines, a little more evident in a year like 2013. A Remelluri for food. 214,321 bottled produced. It was bottled in April 2016.
This is a lean and finely textured red with blackberry and blueberry character. Wild herbs. Burnt orange peel. Medium body. Tight and refined. Drink now.
Did Remelluri, as a single estate in a cool spot under the Sierra Cantabria in Labastida, suffer more from the difficulties of the 2013 vintage than some? The resulting wine is not a patch on the 2012 I reviewed last year. Fresh, herbal and minty, with tangy acidity and sinewy tannins, it's still good, but would benefit from a little more flesh on the bones. 2020-21
