L'avis des experts

James Suckling:

Focused nose with blueberries, stones, black cherries, roasted spices, slate and fresh blue flowers. A medium-to full-bodied mencia with tight, fine-grained tannins. Elegant and layered with fresh black and blue fruit on the mid-palate. Drink now or hold.

The Wine Advocate::

The 2018 Pittacum Aurea keeps a profile from the 2000s, with generous ripeness and oak, 14.5% alcohol and creamy, toasty and smoky aromas and flavors from the élevage in barrel for 14 months, which also provide it with some slightly astringent tannins in the finish. But it's more civilized and has less oak than in the most extreme moments of the style, more balanced and approachable. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021.
