L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The 2017 P.F., which is the acronym for Pie Franco (ungrafted), is pure Bobal from old, ungrafted vines from a low-yielding vintage. The vines are over 90 years of age and are planted at 900 meters in altitude on granite soils. This fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in open-top 4,500-liter oak vats and matured in 600-liter French oak barrels for ten months. This is the wine that shows more complexity and depth, showing the pure character of Bobal on deep sandy soils at high altitude, surrounded by aromatic herbs. The tannins feel quite polished, certainly less rustic than in earlier vintages. This is a mineral, powerful and spicy wine with a mixture of rusticity and complexity, darker than La Estrecha. 8,500 bottles were filled in July 2018.

Suckling:

This has a very assertive, direct and ripe delivery of red-plum and cherry aromas and flavors with a sleek, intense and juicy feel. Blueberries and fine, powdery firm tannins abound on the palate. Drink or hold.
