L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The 2019 Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra comes from a very dry year with low yields, produced with Garnacha from 80+-year-old vines on slopes rich in schist at 800 to 1,000 meters in altitude. It fermented in oak and stainless steel vats and amphorae with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels of different origins for 24 months. This is very expressive; the slate soils seem to take heat quite well. It is floral and open, rich and with the grainy tannins that reminded me of the dusty schist. This is supple and tasty. 3,295 bottles were filled in July 2021. - Luis Gutiérrez.

James Suckling:

Attractive red-fruit character, together with rose petals, dried orange peel and herbs. Dry and structured with layers of chewy tannins and a delicate fruit profile on the palate. Firm and textured with lots of potential. Drinkable now, better after 2023.
