L'avis des experts

Parker:

The red blend 2018 Pago de Otazu was produced with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines planted in 1993 on gravel and white stony soils with a high component of clay. It fermented in concrete with selected yeasts after being cooled down and matured in French oak barrels for 15 months. It's herbal and fruit-driven with a high component of spice, with ripeness and 14.5% alcohol and mellow acidity. It's a nice Bordeaux expression, herbal and pungent and clean, and it has the velvety tannins that made Merlot famous. It has some creaminess and the soft texture of the modern vinifications. It has medium weight in the palate, ripeness and good freshness. 13,833 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020.
