The 2019 Alvarinho Muros de Melgaço, one of Mendes's earliest and most iconic brands, comes in an oversized Moscato-like flute for a bottle. It is an Alvarinho aged for six months in used French oak. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol, 1.5 grams of residual sugar and 6.9 of total acidity. Lovely again this year, this is balanced, fresh and lively. It perfectly handles its oak. It seems to be in fine form, able to age and develop as time goes on. It's not particularly intense, but it is refined and elegant. It certainly has some chance to improve more with a couple years of cellaring.
